![]() “And we do not believe that it is appropriate to attack the composition of the democratically elected government of an ally. “We do not… believe that the way to negotiate peace is by focusing on only one issue, in this case the construction of settlements, when clearly the conflict between the Israelis and Palestinians is so deeply complex,” Mrs May’s spokesman said. Presumably she thought she could hide behind the American veto but when it was suddenly withdrawn by the childish Obama she was left exposed and looking like the prize humbug she apparently is. However, she has maintained the feeble stance of her own government by supporting the malignant proposition before the Security Council. Today she is reported to have laid into the American government in general, and the ineffable John Kerry in particular, for its sudden volte face towards Israel. May was a 'do nothing, say nothing' Home Secretary which, given her most famous speech in which she described her own party as " the nasty party", was perhaps " A Good Thing!" ![]() There was never much to worry about with the original 'that woman' but I am becoming increasingly uneasy over her current successor. On the other hand, I would not burst into tears were he to depart these shores and station himself in - oh, I dunno - say, Brussels, or Berlin! Yes, setting aside the last suggestion, I would agree with most of that! Parris lives in the rarefied air of a country retreat in beautiful Derbyshire when he is not taking in the even more rarefied air of Westminster and he is welcome to remain in what he believes now to be a cesspit of, dare I say, 'deplorables'! ‘Bad loser’, ‘diddums’, ‘suck it up’, ‘go and live somewhere else’. Some who fought for Leave on 23 June will be contemptuous. Someone should remind her that it is the opinion of the i nterviewee we wish to hear, not hers!Īnyway, Matthew Parris was awaiting his turn before the cameras and he witnessed the whole thing although my take on it was considerably different from his, not least because he obviously took Amanpour's side. Amanpour is the most utterly useless interviewer you could ever wish to avoid. You can watch it here but, alas, all you will learn is that Ms. Also, needless to say, he soon reverts to accusing all Brexiteers of rampant racism and points to a TV interview between that well known seeker of truth and justice, er, so long as it is her truth and justice, Ms Christine Amanpour of CNN (yeeeeees, quite!) and Daniel Hannan MEP. Needless to say, that was written immediately after the Brexit vote. Read it for yourselves but his title provides the essence of it:įor the first time in my life, I feel ashamed to be British ![]() But, today, re-reading the offending, and offensive, article my temper, and temperature, are both rising! ![]() Dammit, I said to myself, I have admired that man for years even if I didn't always agree with him, so I really cannot lose my temper over one pathetic essay. At the time, I filled a suitably large bucket with some really ripe 'blog-offal' and was about to pour it all over his silly head when, suddenly, I hesitated. 3 stands one I almost choked on written by the normally estimable Matthew Parris. Over at The Coffee House they are reprinting ten of the most-read articles from this year's Spectator.
